Links with the Knorr-Bremse Group

Although Knorr-Bremse Global Care consists of three single legally separated entities, it has many close links with the Knorr-Bremse Group.

As a company, Knorr-Bremse (founded 1905) has a long tradition of supporting charitable activities at its various sites. Since 2005 it has also been providing Knorr-Bremse Global Care globally with an annual funding of currently two million Euros. The idea behind setting up the organization was to institutionalize the company’s various charitable activities worldwide and boost their effectiveness. Knorr-Bremse Global Care’s structures, combined with its experience of working with many partner organizations, enable projects in the vicinity of company sites to be launched rapidly, organized efficiently and monitored consistently; but they also facilitate implementation of projects that are located further afield.

More than half of the total funded projects to date, has been implemented in collaboration with local company sites. There are various ways KB sites and employees can become involved – for example by suggesting partner organizations or by submitting proposals for specific projects together with detailed project plans. In the past, local site managers have actively supervised individual projects, institutions supported by Knorr-Bremse Global Care have collaborated with a specific site, or follow-up projects have been financed by the sites themselves.

The company's own Local Care engagement, which is organized individually by every location creates many times synergies in projects with Knorr-Bremse Global Care. For example when employees are volunteering for a specific project of Knorr-Bremse Global Care.
