Engagement in the WASH sector

WASH project in Krachi East, Ghana

The decision to focus on water-related projects is based on the fact that the issue of water is a common thread running through all the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Improvements in drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene can not only help to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health but also strengthen gender equality.

Despite an increase in development cooperation efforts around the world linked to the Millennium Development Goals and some successes in recent years, over 660 million people around the world still do not have access to clean drinking water. And more than 2.4 billion people do not have access to improved sanitation.

Knorr-Bremse Global Care has therefore been focusing since 2013 on WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) projects, particularly in Asia and Africa.
