Major honor for Knorr-Bremse Global Care: Charitable organization wins "Philanthropist of the Year 2016" award from the city of Krakow in Poland. Executive board member Nadia Thiele recieved the prize in person on 23 June in Krakow.

Knorr-Bremse Global Care has been working with employees of Knorr-Bremse Poland’s Krakow site to support the city’s Zeromski hospital since 2014. In particular, they have assisted with renovation work on the dilapidated children’s ward.

The ward was also provided with new furniture and special medical equipment. Thanks to these measures, 40 children and premature babies can now receive a higher standard of care while they are on the ward – and their parents can sleep more soundly at night.

Engagement in countries with Knorr-Bremse sites forms an important part of Knorr-Bremse Global Care’s work. The project was proposed by employees of Knorr-Bremse in Poland and supported by them throughout its two-year duration. They made regular visits to the hospital, inspected the progress of the work on site, helped with administrative tasks and facilitated contact between the hospital management, the contractors and Knorr-Bremse Global Care in Munich.

Following the project’s conclusion, Knorr-Bremse Global Care has now been honored with the city of Krakow’s “Philanthropist of the Year” award. Since the year 2000, this award has recognized individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the public good in the city of Krakow. In the prize-giving speech, the jury praised “not only the tremendous commitment of Global Care, but also the engagement of Knorr-Bremse’s employees.” The certificate and symbolic scepter were received in person by Nadia Thiele, Executive Board member of Knorr-Bremse Global Care, to the great delight of the Knorr-Bremse Poland representatives who attended the ceremony, among them Managing Director Jacek Bilas.
