26 June, 2017 [Global Care]

The call for proposals 2017 has ended. After a process of reviews, presentations and discussions, the members of KB Global Care took a decision, which projects can be supported with funds of 2017. Following projects were chosen:

  • Cambodia - Expansion of the kindergarten (©TKG)

  • Ghana - Vocational training for women (©REEF)

  • Kenya - Strengthening of resilience and nutrional security (©arche noVa/Axel Fassio)

  • Ukraine - New equiment for computer lab (©Don Bosco Mondo)

Cambodia: After school, children of rubbish collectors need a safe place to go. Therefore the Thüringisch-Kambodschanische Gesellschaft and COMPED will expand the after-school care. The children can do their homework under supervision and have time to play in a safe environment.

Ghana: In Ghana the majority of women and girls doesn't have a formal educational attainment. The project of the Rural Economic Empowerment Foundation supports vocational trainings for catching up in education. The goal of the project is to enable the women to earn a living on their own.

Kenya: The counties Makueni, Machakos and Kitui rate among the driest in Kenya. By building sand dams and by agricultural trainings the resilience and nutritional security of the rural population will be strengthened. The population will be supported by arche noVa and the Africa Sand Dam Foundation.

Tanzania: None of the ten primary schools in the Ulaya Region in Tanzania do have drinking water or sanitation supply. Together with World Vision the grievance will be fixed. Besides the construction of wells, water reservoirs and sanitation facilities, hygiene trainings will be provided, to prevent diseases.

Ukraine: To open up new job prospects for youths, the computer lab will be provided with new computer equipment. The computer lab is in the same Don Bosco vocational training center, which Knorr-Bremse Global Care has already supported several times.
